Biography
Michael Godding has over 25 years of experience as an equestrian instructor. He began riding at age four in a family riding school and has devoted his career to mastering classical training principles. Influenced by renowned masters such as Nuno Oliveira, Miguel Tavora, Luis Valença, and Manuel Jorge de Oliveira, Michael combines traditional methods with a modern, student-focused approach.
At thirteen, he started his first colt using Oliveira’s principles, a milestone that shaped his lifelong commitment to classical horsemanship. His early collaboration with Jacob Hanisch further deepened his understanding of these philosophies.
Michael offers comprehensive instruction—from groundwork to advanced saddle work—emphasizing clarity, patience, and long-term development. His goal is to help riders and horses reach their full potential through classical techniques.
Since discovering Working Equitation in 2011, Michael has competed in Australia and the United States and played a key role in promoting and coaching the sport’s growth in both countries.
Events and Tours
Michael travels on regular basis to parts of NSW, ACT and also to the USA to conduct classical & working equitation clinics.
