Biography
Michael has been an equestrian instructor for over two and a half decades. As a young four-year-old boy, he acquired the ability to ride and work with horses in a family riding school environment. Throughout his life, Michael has dedicated himself to studying the principles and various training methods, drawing significant influence from the teachings of Nuno Oliveira, Miguel Tavora, and the Valença method (Luis Valença) as well as Manuel Jorge de Oliveira.
At the age of thirteen, Michael embarked on his first horse riding journey, saddling a colt using the principles of Nuno Oliveira’s teachings. His childhood friend, Jacob Hanisch, has also played a pivotal role in nurturing Michael’s interest and pursuit of classical teachings and philosophies.
From ground work (in-hand) to saddle work, from fundamental concepts to advanced training techniques, Michael provides students with a comprehensive and encouraging approach to learning the art of riding and training. Michael is committed to collaborating with his students on a long-term basis, assisting them in comprehending each moment to enable their horses to reach their full potential through his expertise in classical training principles.
Working equitation was introduced to Australia in 2007. In 2011, Michael developed an interest in this sport and quickly became a competitor in both Australia and the United States. Since then, he has been actively promoting and coaching the development of Working Equitation in Australia and the United States.
Events and Tours
Michael travels on regular basis to parts of NSW, ACT and also to the USA to conduct classical & working equitation clinics.
